Kertone developed a central distributed-water supply system for the new Wangcheng District People’s Hospital in Changsha. The supplied project article describes a hospital built to the standard of a tertiary general hospital, with 36 clinical and medical-technical departments, 500 beds and capacity for an average of 2,400 outpatient and emergency visits per day.
The project was planned to replace a more fragmented model in which individual departments operate separate water-treatment equipment. The centralized approach places the main water-treatment plant in a non-clinical basement area and distributes water to the required points of use. The system serves the central sterile supply department, clinical laboratory, endoscopy cleaning center, hemodialysis center, outpatient and medical-technology buildings, offices and drinking-water points.
The source records an overall production capacity of 12,000 L/h at 25°C. The installation uses PLC and touchscreen control, together with Kertone’s smart-water system, to monitor operating parameters such as water quality, temperature, pressure and flow across raw-water, pretreatment, purified-water and post-treatment stages. It also includes monitoring, protection and alarms for abnormal operating conditions described in the source, including loss of water or power, overload and pipeline leakage.
Other documented design elements include variable-frequency operation, a dual-core duty-and-standby arrangement, multistage membrane treatment, ultraviolet treatment, ozone disinfection and closed-loop distribution. The centralized plant is intended to simplify equipment management, reduce the number of separate consumables and preserve clinical floor space. Final operation, water-quality targets and maintenance requirements remain subject to the hospital’s approved technical and management procedures.
